Lee C. Bollinger has announced to the Regents of the University of Michigan that Sanford R. Robertson has agreed to join Richard Rogel as one of the first members of the University's Campaign Co-chair Committee. This committee will form the leadership team for the volunteer working committees during the University's upcoming fund raising campaign. Mr. Robertson has pledged a substantial leadership gift towards the campaign.

Robertson has supported the University both financially and with his time and expertise, serving in leadership positions in former campaigns, as a national major gifts co-chair, as chair of the San Francisco Major Committee and as an active volunteer on committees at the School of Business Administration.

Robertson is one of the founders and the former chair of the Michigan Business School Growth Fund Committee, which provides School of Business Administration donors with the option of giving through high-growth investment opportunities. He currently serves on the president’s advisory group.

Robertson was a managing partner of Robertson Stephens and Co., one of the nation’s leading high-technology and emerging growth investment banking firms, and he now is the principal of a new investment firm, Francisco Partners in San Francisco.

In explaining why he is taking a leadership role in the campaign, Robertson said he believes in and wants to support the values of the U-M, which he describes as having a commitment to the highest intellectual quality, to the community and to diversity.

“We are very fortunate to have his leadership at this important time for the University,” Bollinger said.
