Photo story: ‘Animals in the Kelsey’ opens Dec. 8

The Kelsey Museum and a class of undergraduates are teaming up to present the free, public exhibition, ‘Animals in the Kelsey,’ a unique look at animals in the ancient world, on display Dec. 8 through March.

Kelsey has animal collections ranging from representations of familiar fish to mythical beasts, from dog paw prints to a camel harness. Animals involved in the Kelsey’s field activities also will be featured. The photograph at right was taken by George W. Swain at a camp in the Fayoum Region of Egypt. The dog is described as ‘camp mascot and congenial companion.’ For more information, visit the Web at Photo courtesy Kelsey Museum
