Holiday closures

News and Information Services, including The University Record and Michigan Today: Closed noon Dec. 22–8 a.m. Jan. 2.

Printing Services: Closed Dec. 25–Jan. 1.

The United States Postal Service will be open Dec. 27–29, but will not provide service to University buildings unless advance written requests are received at University Mail Service by Dec. 15.     Plant Building Services: Plant Building Services will close at 12:30 a.m. Dec. 23 and re-open 7:30 a.m. Jan. 2. Limited services, including restroom maintenance, corridor cleaning and trash removal from centralized locations, will be provided Dec. 26–29 in buildings remaining open over the holidays.

    There will be an ample supply of trash bags placed in the bottom of trash receptacles for those who wish to discard trash from offices, laboratories, etc. Emergency services will be available on request Dec. 23–Jan. 2 by calling the Emergency Maintenance System, (734) 647-2059, or the Department of Public Safety, (734) 763-1131.

    Occupational Safety and Environmental Health: The Department of Occupational Safety and Environmental Health (OSEH) will close at 4:30 p.m. Dec. 22 and reopen at 7:30 a.m. Jan. 2. OSEH staff will respond to emergencies during the holidays. Requests for emergency services should be directed to the Department of Public Safety, (734) 763-1131.

    Hazardous Material staff will collect radioactive materials, chemical waste and pathological wastes as usual through Dec. 22, but everyone is strongly urged to call early for pickups. Routine pickups of these hazardous materials will resume Jan. 2. If special arrangements are required, call (734) 763-4568 prior to Dec. 15.

    Staff working with radioactive or chemical materials during the holidays should have a sufficient supply of waste containers to accommodate the workload. Laboratories are encouraged to call OSEH, prior to the holidays, to procure the appropriate supplies. Approval for radioactive materials must be obtained prior to Dec. 20. Radiation Safety staff will deliver radioactive material packages Dec. 26–29.

    Arts of Citizenship Program: Closed 3 p.m. Dec. 22–8 a.m. Jan. 4. Voicemail messages may be left at (734) 615-0609.

    IT-related Information Technology Central Services: Most Information Technology Central Services (ITCS) offices will close at 5 p.m. Dec. 22 and reopen Jan. 2, with the following exceptions:

  • 4-HELP phone consulting will be closed but consulting help will be available via e-mail at online.consulting@umich.edu.

  • Campus Computing Sites closed 5:30 p.m. Dec. 23–7:30 a.m. Jan. 2. Access to key-card sites will be subject to building hours during the break.   • Computer Showcase will close at 3 p.m. Dec. 22.

    Michigan Administrative Information Services (MAIS): Most MAIS business offices closed 5 p.m. Dec. 22–8 a.m. Jan. 2. Financial/Physical Resources and Student Administration systems, and the Payroll, Human Resources and Development systems will be available during normal hours of operation. Hours of operation are on the Web, www.mpathways.umich.edu/getstart/hours.html. M-Pathways Help Desk, (734) 936-7000, will be available 8 a.m.–5 p.m. Dec. 26–29. No M-Pathways classes are scheduled during the season days, and training registration will be closed. Regular hours resume Jan. 2.
