February, March benefits deductions will be taken from March paychecks

By Vivian Byrd
Human Resources/Affirmative Action

The 15,405 faculty and staff affected by a processing error in their February paychecks will see a correction in their March paychecks. Benefits premiums that were not deducted in February will be deducted in March paychecks, in addition to normal March deductions.

In February paychecks, deductions were not taken for health, dental, long-term disability, life insurance, prescription drug, vision, flexible spending account, auto/homeowners/liability insurance, group long-term care insurance, legal plan and flexible benefits cash credit coverage.

The only benefits deductions taken from February paychecks were basic and additional retirement plan contributions. Nonbenefits deductions for such items as parking and University day care facilities were not affected.

Scheduled reimbursements from 2000 health care and dependent care accounts were not included in February paychecks. Those who were due a reimbursement and did not receive it in February will receive it in their March paycheck unless they requested on imprest check.

Affected faculty and staff were notified of the situation in late February to allow time for budget adjustments. February benefits deductions were correct for staff paid on a biweekly schedule.
