Plant forms have had a lasting presence in the visual arts. From the reeds and barley that circle the base of the ancient Mesopotamian Uruk vase to modern interpretations of Van Goghs convoluted sunflowers, the implications of plant imagery range from fertile and pure to exotic and even mad.
