The Benefits Office has announced the 2000 Open Enrollment schedule. Open Enrollment is the time period when you make your benefit choices for 2001. Benefits enrollments or changes you make during Open Enrollment are effective Jan. 1, 2001. Open Enrollment 2000 for your 2001 benefits is Oct. 9–27. Review your Open Enrollment materials and Personal Worksheets when you receive them, make your decisions, and call BEL (the Benefits Enrollment Line) early.

Late September: Open Enrollment books will be mailed to benefits-eligible faculty and staff through campus mail. Personal Worksheets contain personal financial information and will be mailed to the home address on record. Retirees will receive their materials in the U.S. mail.

Oct. 2–6: During Education Week, presentations will be offered at various sites around campus. See schedule on page 21.

Oct. 9–27: Call BEL to make your 2001 benefits choices. You need to call BEL if you want to enroll or re-enroll in a Reimbursement Account, or if you want to make changes to your benefits. BEL will close at 4:30 p.m. Oct. 27.

Early November: In early November, you will receive a Confirmation Statement at your home address that confirms your Open Enrollment choices. Carefully review your Confirmation Statement to make sure it lists correctly the choices you made for 2001.

Nov. 6–22: If your Confirmation Statement does not reflect your 2001 choices, you can call BEL to make corrections or changes during the Adjustment Period, Nov. 6–Nov. 22. BEL will close at 4:30 p.m. Nov. 22.

After that time, you no longer will be able to make Open Enrollment changes to your benefits. Any earlier benefits choices will remain in effect for all of 2001.

Approximately December 1: Final Confirmation Statements will be mailed to anyone who made changes during the Adjustment Period.

Effective date: Open Enrollment changes are effective Jan. 1, 2001.

Education Week: The Benefits Office will offer several presentations to provide an opportunity for you to ask your questions of a Benefits staff member in advance of Open Enrollment. Mark your calendars now and attend one of the following:
