Road Scholars visit Upper Peninsula

Cornelia Porter, associate professor of nursing, examines her map on the final day of this year’s Michigan Road Scholars Tour. U-M–Flint Chancellor Juan Mestas is in the background. The annual five-day traveling seminar allows faculty to visit and learn about several communities in Michigan.

For the first time, this year’s group visited the Soo Locks on the St. Mary’s River leading to Lake Superior. On the boat, a history professor from Lake Superior State University enthralled the U-M faculty members with a talk on the area’s rich history and commerce.
