Tackling teaching

Johnathan Taylor, a defensive end for the
Detroit Lions, is completing the last three credit hours required for
his bachelor’s degree in early childhood education at Montana State
University by student teaching this semester at U-M–Dearborn’s
Childhood Development Center.
Taylor, a rookie who was injured in the preseason,
says becoming an uncle at the age of 6 made the pursuit of an education
degree an obvious choice. “I’ve always been around kids. It’s
just second nature to me,” Taylor says. “I’ve learned
a lot and it’s good to have something to fall back on once my football
career is over. I get more joy out of teaching than pretty much anything
else. I know I will miss the kids at the end of the semester.”
