Public clinics offer flu immunizations

It came on suddenly last winter: nausea, body aches, a sore throat and possibly a fever. This season, the Michigan Visiting Nurses (MVN) are helping to fight back against the flu at immunization clinics where there will be more vaccine available than last year.

Clinics will be held October through December at many sites and are open to the general public ages 18 years and older. Children ages 12 and older can get shots at select sites if they are accompanied by a parent or guardian. Shots are $17.

MVN, a non-profit organization that is part of U-M Health System, will bill for people with Medicare Part B who are not part of a health maintenance organization.
