University lends shoulders to lean on
Two participants at the
U-M vigil held Sept. 11 console each other in the face of tragedy. An
estimated 15,000 people attended the vigil on the Diag. Vigil
participants shared collective feelings of grief, shock and anger after
the terrorist attacks against the nation. Officials from the University
and community leaders spoke to the crowd and urged people to remain united
and to look out for one another. Holding lit candles, participants
observed a moment of silence in respect for the victims of the terrorist
attacks. (Photo by Martin Vloet, U-M Photo Services)
