Road construction changes continue this week

Although many summer street construction projects have been completed, a new challenge will appear on campus this week (Sept. 17–21). The west lane of Simpson Drive, west of the Medical Professional Building, will be closed for the next three to four weeks. Simpson Drive is a one-way, two-lane street that leads parkers in M1 and M9 onto East Medical Center Drive. The east lane of Simpson will remain open during construction.

The lane closure is necessary in order to install the next phase of the ITCom and utilities duct run along the sidewalk.

Other street work on the west side of the medical campus concluded last week when the final paving was completed on Glen Avenue. The project completion had been delayed to reduce interference with student move-in.

Signs indicating “no right turns” onto Glen from westbound Huron Street remain in place while city engineers monitor traffic flow. Right turns still are permitted one block east on Zina Pitcher Place.
