Star Search

It was a day of sequins and spandex, little girls and big dreams April 14 when the CBS show "Star Search" came to the Michigan League. Dancers, singers and models of varying ages auditioned for the program. At left, Gabrielle Forstall, 8, performs a tap dance routine. She and her sister, Stephanie, danced to "Ma, He's Making Eyes at Me," a performance they learned from instructors Gail Kivett and Alison Kivett-Williston at Kivett's Smooth Steps in Swartz Creek.

Below left, Gabrielle awaits her turn on the dance floor, along with Kylie Hess, 9; Noelle Millis, 8; and Katie Chernoby, 11, of Oxford. A tape of their performances went to "Star Search," and the girls were told they would find out later whether they would be called back for another audition.
