Two public lectures remain in a series about the planet Mars at the Exhibit
Museum of Natural History.
At 7:30 p.m. Feb. 5, the College of Engineering's Michigan Mars Rover Team
presents "Mars 102," explaining what makes Mars exploration a
challenge and what kind of research can be done there.
At 7:30 p.m. Feb. 12, Eric Rabkin, professor of English, will deliver the lecture "Mars 103: The Evolution of Mars: A Cultural History." Rabkin will
discuss the planet from a cultural perspective, from "Mars, God of War" to "War of the Worlds" to today's "NASAfication."
The lectures continue a semester-long "Journey to Mars," hosted by the Exhibit Museum. Other activities include a Mars photography exhibit in the
museum lobby, planetarium shows, a Mars Discovery Day, another lecture in April about the human dimension of Mars exploration, and school spring break
activities in April.
