History in the making

Dan Fisher, professor of geological sciences and of ecology and evolutionary biology, supervises students making a cast of a mastodon skull. Fisher and a team of students and community volunteers are molding an entire mastodon skeleton on loan from the Paleontological Research Institution in Ithaca, N.Y. Also pictured, clockwise from left, are Mike Cherney, project foreman and recent LSA alumnus; Michael Adams, undergraduate in the Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP); Fisher, project supervisor; and UROP undergraduates Marie Choi, Lia Min and Amber Heard.
