Dearborn budget up 3.4M; tuition/fees to increase 9.5%
By Laurel Thomas Gnagey
U-M-Dearborn is counting on continual enrollment increases and an additional 9.5 percent from tuition and fees to help offset the 10 percent cut in state
appropriations, Chancellor Daniel Little told regents July 17.
The board approved the Dearborn campus budget that calls for an increase of $232 per term for lower-division resident undergraduates. A $193 average
increase for resident graduate students represents a reduction in tuition and fees for two programs in the School of Education, and 9.5 percent increases for all others.
"Our proposed budget includes a modest salary program and funding for significant increases in health care and prescription drug coverage costs," Little said.
It also supports increased faculty and resources to keep up with past and planned enrollment increases, he said. Increased financial aid will more than offset the
addition to tuition and fees, Little told regents.
