Art Fairs 2003: Bigger Than Ever

Donna Ferguson of Swartz Creek (left) and Dena Scully of Fenton examine bowls made by potter Dorothy Levin along the Ingalls Mall during the Ann Arbor Art Fairs. This year, the Ann Arbor Street Art Fair moved from its historical location along South University Avenue to the area around Burton Tower. About 1,170 artists exhibited their works in the four official art fairs, up from 900 last year. The art fairs kicked off with some of the nicest weather of the summer, leading to huge crowds on campus and in the downtown streets.

Mary Marchioni, Mary Morgan and Lisa Vanderckuyssen eye artist Kit Karbler's works.

Local singer-songwriter Annie Capps and bandmate Christine Schinker rock out in front of the Museum of Art.

Linda O'Brien checks out artist Marc Sijan's lifelike creations.

Five-year-old Waverly Hart greets a bear made of nails and other metals, created by artist Bill Secunda.
