The University of Michigan Bioterrorism Preparedness Initiative
counts among its leaders participants from many disciplines across
campus. They include:
• Steering Committee Co-Chairs Marvin
Parnes, associate vice president for research and executive
director of research administration; and Mark Wilson, associate
professor of epidemiology and biology.
• James Baker Jr., director of
research for the initiative. Baker is the Ruth Dow Doan Professor
of Nanotechnology, professor of internal medicine and biomedical
engineering, and director of the Center for Biologic Nanotechnology.
• Rosemarie Rowney, director
of training for the initiative. Rowney formerly was director of
the Oakland County Health Department, where she provided leadership
and policy direction for public health programs serving more than
a million residents, and now is a lecturer at the School of Nursing.
• Stephanie Teasley, chair of
the information technology work group and senior associate research
scientist at the School of Information.
• Arnold Monto, leader of the
epidemiology, surveillance and detection work group; professor of
epidemiology; and director of the Bioterrorism Preparedness Initiative.
