Walkers inaugurate the newly reconstructed Broadway Bridges during a ceremony July 30. Many were nearby residents and merchants, and others were commuters who wanted to witness the reopening of the bridges to two-way traffic. The two-year construction project, which began in February 2003 and includes work on other streets in the area, is expected to be completed ahead of schedule. The work on the bridges was completed early. A community celebration of the completion of the Broadway Bridges is scheduled for 6-8 p.m. Sept. 17 at the top of Broadway Park.
