HRAA unveils a new 'Gateway' service model

A new walk-in center and Web site are making it easier for U-M employees to apply for jobs, add a spouse to their health insurance, change their address with the University and more.

The new "gateway" approach to customer service combines the reception areas for employment, benefits, and Human Resource Records and Information Services on the ground floor of the Wolverine Tower low rise.

Two walk-in centers now serve employees on a first-come, first-served basis. Questions about benefits, employment and records can be asked at the new HR Service Gateway in G-250 on the east side of the low rise. Payroll walk-in service will remain available through the Payroll Office, room G-395, at the south side of the building. Wheelchair access is available on the south and northwest sides of Wolverine Tower.

A new Human Resources/ Payroll Service Center Web site also is available at
http://www.hrpayrollsc.umich.edu/. The walk-in center and the Web site—along with an existing call center—offer customers three options for accessing information.

More than 123,000 phone calls were routed through the three areas last year, with many callers asking the same questions. The answers to the most frequently asked questions can be found on the new Web site.
