Brian Coppola, the Arthur F. Thurnau Professor of Chemistry and associate chair for curriculum and faculty affairs, Department of Chemistry, is the 2004-05 recipient of the Society for College Science Teachers (SCST)/Kendall-Hunt Outstanding Undergraduate Science Teacher Award. He will give an award presentation titled "Five Good Reasons to Drag Chemistry Teaching into the Twentieth Century" in April at the SCST luncheon during the National Science Teachers Association/SCST national convention in Atlanta.

Catherine Downs, a genetic counselor at the Kellogg Eye Center, has been awarded a Jane Engelberh Memorial Fellowship from the National Society of Genetic Counselors. The one-year grant is for "Promoting Communication and Trust in Multicultural Genetic Counseling: Working with Interpreters."
