At the corner where the new home of the Gerald R. Ford School
of Public Policy will stand, staff members and students pose for
a birthday card photo for alumnus President Ford, who turned 91
on July 14. The northeast corner of Hill and State streets will
be the site of the Joan and Sanford Weill Hall, named for Ford's
longtime friends, who gave $5 million to support construction of
the building that will house the school. Another $2 million came
from the Annenberg Foundation. All of the money has been raised
for the building, says Beth Johnson, director of development and
alumni relations for the Ford School. "We're waiting for the bulldozers to arrive any
day now," Dean Rebecca Blank (front row, fifth from left)
wrote in the card. (Photo by Martin Vloet, U-M Photo Services) |
