U-M-Flint opens new video center

Mediated Classroom Services (MCS)—a unit of the Information Technology Services Department at U-M-Flint—is opening a new Video Production Center in Room 3106 of the William S. White Building. The purpose of the center is to support the campus community with multimedia projects. It is open for students, faculty and staff to use for campus-related video projects. There is no charge to use equipment in the center, and some media (blank VHS videotape, CDs and DVDs) are available for purchase if needed.

UMHS interchanges planned for July

Human Resources and Affirmative Action has planned four U-M Health System interchanges to discuss the Classification System Project. More than 18,000 staff positions in the professional/administrative, office, technical and allied health job families will be part of a new job classification system following its rollout to the University next year.

The UMHS meetings are: 3-4:30 p.m. July 15, North Campus Administrative Complex, Training Rooms A&B; 3:30-4:30 p.m. July 26, University Hospital, MCHC Auditorium (Room F2305); 1-2 p.m. July 27, Medical Sciences Building I, Room M5330; and 8-9 a.m. Aug. 6, University Hospital, Ford Amphitheatre. Interchanges for the Central and North campuses, as well as U-M-Dearborn and U-M-Flint, are available at http://www.umich.edu/~urecord/0304/May24_04/11.shtml.

Regents to meet June 17

The Board of Regents will hold its monthly meeting June 17 in the Great Lakes Room of Palmer Commons, 100 Washtenaw Ave. Individuals with disabilities who wish to attend the meeting and need assistance should contact the Office of the Vice President and Secretary of the University in advance at (734) 764-3883. The start time was not available at Record press time.

UMTV receives three Emmy nominations

Michigan Television, the public television station of U-M, has been recognized for its increased emphasis on producing quality local programs with three Emmy nominations from the Michigan chapter of the National Television Academy. The honored productions were "Ann Arbor Celebrates St. Petersburg," "The Master and the Muse," and "Heroes."

Publication of same-sex domestic partners available

The Benefits Office of Human Resources & Affirmative Action offers a single source for general benefits information for same-sex domestic partners. The six-page publication, entitled "Benefit Resources for Same Sex Domestic Partners," outlines eligibility requirements, enrolling and making coverage changes, and important tax considerations. It also includes information resources for declaring or discontinuing a domestic partnership. The publication is available for download at http://www.umich.edu/~benefits/books/. New student employment Web site

The Student Employment Office (SEO) has developed a new Web site at http://www.studentemployment.umich.edu. The site serves as a convenient way for students to find job opportunities, while helping University and non-University employers find qualified student employees. The site features sections for U-M students, University and work-study employers, and non-University employers. University employers and work-study agencies are able to administer their job postings, view job applicants online, and send e-mail messages to set up interviews and to inform applicants that a job has been filled. Ann Arbor to test warning sirens

The city of Ann Arbor's Office of Emergency Management will conduct a test of the outdoor warning sirens at 1 p.m. June 8. This is a monthly test of the siren system that is intended as a warning for people who are outside that bad weather is approaching.
