Clinton secretary of treasury to speak at U-M

Rubin

Robert Rubin, director and chairman of the executive committee for Citigroup Inc. and former secretary of the treasury for the Clinton administration, will speak at the Law School's 2003 Dean's Special Lecture.

Rubin will speak on "Globalization, Trade and Our Fiscal Morass: The Challenges Ahead" at 4 p.m. Nov. 11 in Room 100 of Hutchins Hall.

After spending more than 20 years at Goldman, Sachs & Co. in New York, Rubin joined the Clinton administration, serving 1993-99. As secretary, he was involved in balancing the federal budget, trade policy globalization issues, the public debt limit and Internal Revenue Service reforms.

U-M-D to host women's leadership conference

U-M-Dearborn's Women's Studies Program will host the leadership and activism conference "Leadership for the 21st Century: Women Building Community in Metro Detroit" 8:30 a.m-4 p.m. Nov. 14.

The conference will bring together women leaders from various cultural and ethnic communities in the Detroit area to discuss gender, leadership and social change.

Grace Lee Boggs, a Chinese-American activist in the African American community, will be the keynote speaker. Activities will take place in the School of Management Building and the Professional Education Center.
