U. Center for Economic Diversification honored
The Business School's Economic Development Administration University Center for Economic Diversification (UCED) has been honored with a project of the year award from the National Association of Management and Technical Assistance Centers (NAMTAC). NAMTAC selected UCED's project "Harrisville Arts Incubator" during the organization's annual conference. UCED conducted a market and feasibility analysis for establishing a small business incubator in Harrisville, Mich. The incubator opened for business in spring 2002. The incubator has helped result in income 200-300 percent above projected revenues and has generated successful businesses, created new jobs and helped revitalize the local economy and Main Street area. The city is making plans for a downtown revitalization project, and there are plans for new businesses in several closed storefronts. The NAMTAC awards competition is held annually to identify outstanding efforts in assisting members' clients to become more globally competitive, more viable in their fields of expertise, or more capable of delivering services to the public sector.
