Michigan Radio to air call-in show with Gov. Granholm

Michigan Radio will air a call-in show on which Gov. Jennifer Granholm will discuss the state budget at noon Nov. 10.

The hour-long show, which is being broadcast from WKAR in East Lansing, will air on the three Michigan Radio stations: WUOM 91.7 FM in Ann Arbor/Detroit, WVGR 104.1 FM in west Michigan and WFUM 91.1 FM in Flint.

First State of the Public Universities address to examine higher education challenges

A first-ever State of the Public Universities address, which will speak to the budget difficulties facing Michigan's higher education institutions, will be telecast live to the Pendleton Room of the Michigan Union at 5 p.m. Nov. 12. The event also will be telecast live, and later rebroadcast, on Comcast Channel 22 (UMTV).Wayne State University President Irving Reid, chairman of the Presidents Council, State Universities of Michigan, will deliver the remarks.

Presidents from all Michigan universities are expected to attend, along with many top policy makers, including lawmakers, officials from Gov. Jennifer Granholm's administration, university governing board members and higher education association executives.

The Presidents Council, State Universities of Michigan, is an advocacy organization comprising the chief executive officers of the state's 15 public universities.

Power Award nominations due Nov. 21

The Academic Women's Caucus (AWC) is soliciting nominations for the 2004 Sarah Goddard Power Award(s) and the Distinguished Service Award. The awards are presented annually to women who have distinguished themselves through their leadership, scholarship and sustained service on behalf of women. The deadline for nominations is Nov. 21.
