Honoring veterans

Members of the U-M Army ROTC Drill Team participate in a 21-gun salute Nov. 11 during a Veterans Day ceremony at the VA Medical Center (above). From left: Cadet Alexander Sivil, the Drill Team commander, and Cadets Kyle Thompson, Randolph Wan, David Joo, Tyler Klein, Adebanjo Solaru, Susan Nagel and Savannah Hall.

Ralph Harris, a member of the Veterans Honor Guard of Washtenaw County, plays "Taps" (left). The ceremony also featured a tribute to prisoners of war and those listed as missing in action, and a multimedia presentation by U-M's Tri-Service ROTC. Dr. Eric Young, chief of staff at the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System, gave keynote remarks. Others involved included staff members from MidWest Financial Credit Union, who visited patients who could not leave their rooms and escorted other patients to the event.
