Students at Indiana's Earlham College selected Rosina
Bierbaum , dean of U-M's School of Natural Resources and
Environment, to be the speaker at their Oct. 29 Environmental
Convocation. Bierbaum discussed "Climate Change: A Matter of
Degrees" and shared the latest information on issues of climate
change/global warming and the role science plays in environmental
policies and management. |
Denys Lau, a U-M/Pfizer Outcomes
Research Post-Doctoral Fellow in the School of Public Health, received
the 2003 Jay S. Drotman Memorial Award Nov. 16 at the 131st annual
meeting of the American Public Health Association. The award recognizes
a young health worker or student who has demonstrated potential in
the health field by challenging traditional public health policy or
practice in a creative and positive manner.
Shelly Yakich, staff trainer in the
Unit for Laboratory Animal Medicine, is the recipient of the 2003 Jody
C. Ungerleider Memorial Award for outstanding contributions to laboratory
animal welfare. Yakich received the award at a Nov. 21 ceremony acknowledging
her outstanding contribution to the humane care and treatment of animals
used in biomedical experimentation.
