AwardsJinho Baik, assistant professor of mathematics, and Adam Matzger, assistant professor of chemistry, are recipients of the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Research Fellowship. Sloan fellows are engaged in research at the frontiers of physics, chemistry, computational and evolutionary molecular biology, computer science, economics, mathematics and neuroscience. They are free to pursue whatever lines of inquiry are of most interest to them.
The Washtenaw County American Heart Association (AHA) will honor Dr. Kim Eagle at the 2005 Washtenaw County Heart Gala May 20 at Crisler Arena. Eagle, chief of clinical cardiology and clinical director of the Cardiovascular Center at the U-M Health System, will receive the Coeur d'Esprit (Spirit of the Heart) Award for Distinguished Achievement. It recognizes superior performance and leadership in the field of cardiovascular disease and/or stroke with a strong focus on clinical or basic science and research associated with supporting the mission of the AHA.
