Appointment
Myron Gutmann, director of the Institute for Social Research's Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research and professor of history, has been named president of theConsortium of Social Science Associations (COSSA) for a two-year term beginning Jan. 1. COSSA is an advocacy organization supported by more than 100 professional associations, scientific societies, universities and research institutions.
Award
Gary Was, College of Engineering associate dean for research and professor of materials science and engineering, received the Outstanding Achievement Award from the Materials Science and Technology Division of the American Nuclear Society. The award recognizes individuals that have made unique or sustained outstanding achievements in the field of materials science and technology contributing to the development of nuclear energy.
