Registration open for WCTF career conference
The Women of Color Task Force will host its 23rd annual Career Conference 7 a.m.-4 p.m. March 4 in the Michigan League and Modern languages Building. The theme for this year's event is "Inclusion and Opportunity: Recognizing Everyone's Contribution."
The conference, which is open to the public, will offer professional, financial and personal development workshops, a networking luncheon and an exhibit area.
Toni Hoover, vice president and development site head of Pfizer Global Research and DevelopmentMichigan Laboratories, will deliver the keynote speech during the opening session. The focus of her talk will be the importance of having a skilled and diverse workforce.
This year, there are several additions to the conference, including:
• A strategic leadership seminar conducted by Associate Vice President and Chief Human Resource Officer Laurita Thomas
• A personal healthcare workshop by University Health Service (UHS) on how to have a productive doctors visit
• Panel presentations on careers for women in research and science, and on health disparities in communities of color featuring panelists from the University and Pfizer.
Conference attendees will be able to receive free massages from students studying at the Ann Arbor Institute of Massage Therapy, and free onsite health screenings from UHS clinicians.
Early and online registration is open until Feb. 23. The cost for U-M staff, faculty and students is $55 for the conference and $75 to attend both the conference and luncheon. The cost for non-University personnel is $75 conference; $95.00 for the conference and luncheon.
After Feb. 23, participants may register via fax or in person; however, registration for the luncheon is closed after that date.
