Jan Longone, curator of American culinary history at the Clements Library, presides over the opening session of the first symposium sponsored by the Longone Center for American Culinary Research. More than 300 people attended the three-day event, which included the dedication of The Janice Bluestein Longone Culinary Archive at the Clements. Food writers and columnists, cookbook collectors, food historians, wine aficionados and "foodies" embraced the first-ever event designed to address American culinary trends and history.
