Never shown in the United States, the exhibit also will include rare Zulu portraits by Italian ethnographer Lidio Cipriania member of the "Siliva" film expedition.
The exhibit will run 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Sept. 13-Oct. 29 in the Osterman Common Room of the Rackham Building. It is sponsored by the Institute for the Humanities. The institute will screen the film at 4 p.m. Sept. 21 in the Rackham Amphitheater.
Davis will lecture about his work at noon Sept. 21 in Room 520 of the Rackham Building. He also will host an opening reception and gallery talk 4:30-6:30 p.m. Sept. 22.
Energy Fest to light up Central and North campuses
The 9th annual Energy Festshowcasing the University's efforts and commitment to energy conservationfor new and returning faculty, staff and students will be from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Sept. 21 on the Central Campus Diag with musical entertainment by Cloud Nine Music. The event will move to the North Campus Portico Plaza 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Sept. 23.
The festival, sponsored by Utilities & Plant Engineering (UPE) and the Center for Sustainable Systems, will include a public acknowledgement of U-M's 2004 Energy Star Partner of the Year Award from the Environmental Protection Agency.
Participating U-M organizations include the Energy Conservation & Outreach Program of UPE, the Center for Sustainable Systems,
Recycling, Environmental Stewardship, Solar House Team and the Solar Car Team.
Other participating organizations include the Ann Arbor Transportation Authority (transportation and commuting options), Ann Arbor Energy Office (alternative fuels program), Ann Arbor District Library (sustainable design buildingMallet's Creek Branch Library), DTE (energy efficiency) and Ballard Power Systems.
Jazzing up the UMS opener
The University Musical Society's (UMS) 126th season opens at 8 p.m. Sept. 17 in Hill Auditorium with a return engagement by Wynton Marsalis and the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra (LCJO).

Comprising 15 of the finest soloists and ensemble players performing today, the LCJO features a vast repertory, from rare historic compositions to commissioned works. LCJO returns for its first UMS appearance since 2001, following Marsalis's concerts with his septet last season.

Protection for retirees subject of September meeting
The U-M Retirees Association will hold its monthly meeting at 3:15 p.m. Sept. 9 in Suite 18 of Wolverine Tower.
The discussion topic for the September meeting will be "Identity Theft and Fraud Protection."

Jerry Greenfield, co-founder of Ben & Jerry's Homemade Inc., will speak about his company's business philosophy at 4:30 p.m. Sept. 14 in the U-M-Flint Theatre.
Greenfield and longtime friend and business partner Ben Cohen built a small, storefront venture into a $160 million publicly held ice cream empire.
Following Greenfield's talk, Ben & Jerry's ice cream will be provided to the audience.
