Assembly to vote in Oct. on evaluation committee

The Senate Assembly is planning to vote Oct. 25 on the establishment and composition of a committee formed to carry out evaluations of University administrators.

Last March, the University Senate adopted a system of periodic (every 2-3 years) evaluation by the faculty of administrative officers—including the president, chancellors, provosts, deans and department chairs.

The University Senate's resolution charged the Assembly with creating an Administration Evaluation Committee to develop appropriate procedures. But the process of approving the committee stalled when the Assembly did not have a quorum during its final meeting of 2003-04 in April.

A group of nine faculty members that formed an ad hoc committee during the summer provided an update to the University Senate on recent activities Sept. 20.
