U-M campus holiday season closings, special hours



Services
Facilities and Operations will maintain reduced staffing throughout the holidays to address any emergency situations. During the holidays, call:
• 911 for emergencies;
• (734) 763-1131 to reach the Department of Public Safety (DPS) to report a crime or safety concern;
• (734) 647-2059 to reach the Plant Operations Call Center for physical plant maintenance requests.

Regular custodial services will conclude Dec. 23. Upon request, limited custodial services dedicated to common area and rest room cleaning will be provided Dec. 27-30. E-mail custodial service requests to the Plant Operations Call Center at pocc@umich.edu by Dec. 12.

Waste collections for radioactive waste, chemical waste and medical/pathological waste will be conducted through Dec. 23 and resume Jan. 3. Call (734) 763-4568 before Dec. 16 to request special pick-ups.

Waste collections for trash and recyclables will be monitored during the season days and will occur on an as-needed basis. Call the Plant Operations Call Center at (734) 647-2059 if there are additional needs.

Contact Occupational Safety and Environmental Health at (734) 764-4420 before Dec. 16 for approval of radioactive material deliveries from Dec. 27-30. Deliveries may be scheduled if lab staff is available to receive the packages and properly secure them.

The Key Office will not provide walk-in service Dec. 24-Jan. 2. Call the Plant Operations Call Center at (734) 647-2059 for emergencies.

Building Automations Services (BAS): Ventilation in most campus buildings will be reduced during the holidays to conserve energy. People in areas that will be fully staffed Dec. 25-Jan. 2 should contact BAS with work schedules by Dec. 17 so that full ventilation can be maintained. Animal research and other critical facilities that normally require 24-hour ventilation will not be reduced. Heat will not be turned off in any buildings; reductions pertain only to ventilation. Information Technology Central Services (ITCS): Most ITCS offices will close at 5 p.m. Dec. 23 and reopen Jan. 3, with the following exceptions:
• 4-HELP Consulting Phone Service: Closed 5 p.m. Dec. 23-8 a.m. Jan. 3. Consulting assistance will be available via e-mail. Send questions to online.consulting@umich.edu.
• Campus Computing Sites: Angell Hall computing site will be closed from 7:30 p.m. Dec. 23-7:30 a.m. Jan. 3. School of Education Building will be closed 6:30 p.m. Dec. 23-7:30 a.m. Jan. 3. Holiday hours for other campus computing sites can be found at www.umich.edu/~sites/hours.
• Computer Showcase (Michigan Union): Closed noon Dec. 23-9 a.m. Jan. 3.
• ITCom Repair Services: Will take emergency voice, data or video repair requests at (734) 647-8888. Select emergency option, then select voice, video or data and an operator will answer and take the necessary information. For non-emergency voice, data or video repair requests, call (734) 647-8888. Select the non-emergency option, then select voice, video or data and leave a message as instructed.
• University Operator Services: An automated system is available to provide faculty, staff and student telephone numbers. U-M operators will be available at (734) 764-1817 7:45 a.m.-8 p.m. Dec. 23, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Dec. 27-30 and will resume normal hours 7:45 a.m. Jan. 3.

Mail Services: University Mail Services will be closed Dec. 27-31. The deadline for units to submit requests to Mail Services for U.S. Postal Service (USPS) mail delivery or metering needs during University seasonal days (Dec. 27-30) is Dec. 16. Requests must be submitted via e-mail or in writing. The USPS will be open Dec. 27-31, but will not provide service to University buildings unless advance written requests are made by Dec. 16. Also, Mail Services must be notified by Dec. 16 if pickup and delivery is not required Dec. 23. Standard permit mail to be processed and mailed before the holiday break must be received at Mail Services by 5 p.m. Dec. 22. Mail must be at Mail Services by 1 p.m. Dec. 23 to be postmarked before Dec. 25. For information, call (734) 764-9227.

Michigan Administrative Information Services (MAIS): Most MAIS business offices, including the Help Desk, will be closed 5 p.m. Dec. 23-8 a.m. Jan. 3. All MAIS systems, including M-Pathways Financial/Physical Resources, Student Administration and Human Resource Management systems, as well as eResearch, will be available during normal hours of operation. These hours are on the Web at www.mais.umich.edu/systeminfo/hours.html. To report a suspected system outage or to request a password reset, call (734) 936-7000.

Payroll Office: Closed Dec. 26, 28-Jan. 2. Open 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Dec. 23; 8 a.m.-noon Dec. 27.

Logistics (M-Stores): Closed Dec. 26-Jan. 2. Dec. 23 is the last day for deliveries, which will resume Jan. 3.

Maintenance Service Unit: Closed Dec. 26-Jan. 2.

Hospital Service Unit: Closed Dec. 26 & Jan. 2. Open 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Dec. 27-30.

Office Max Office Product Delivery: Closed Dec. 26-Jan. 2. For emergency UPS deliveries of Office Max products, contact Office Max directly.

Purchasing Services: Closed Dec. 26-Jan. 2. During that period, purchase orders will be available online as usual through the M-Pathways system or purchases can be made with a P-Card. For emergency assistance, call (734) 647-4147 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Normal business hours will resume Jan. 3.

Mail Services: Closed Dec. 26-Jan. 2.

Optical Imaging: Closed Dec. 26-Jan. 2.

Copy Centers at Printing Services, North Ingalls and Law School: Closed Dec. 26-Jan. 2.

Parking and Transportation Services
Parking enforcement will be suspended for permits and meter fees in all U-M parking areas except the Simpson Circle Structure (Mott) and North Entrance Structure (Cancer Center/Geriatric Center) from 5 p.m. Dec. 22-6 a.m. Jan. 3. This policy does not extend to the City of Ann Arbor parking areas. Lot M26 on East Medical Center Drive will have several spaces controlled during this time for pre-construction testing; however, Lots M75 and NC78 will be available for parking with shuttle service provided at M75 Dec. 27-30. Since there is no evening or weekend shuttle service, Medical Center afternoon and midnight shift staff with yellow or orange permits (hang tags or static cling) will be allowed to park at the Taubman Structure (Parking A) during the holiday break.

Patient and visitor parking at the Taubman Parking Structure (Parking A) will continue normal operations throughout the holiday season, except Dec. 24-26 and Jan. 1-2 when parking will be free. The North Entrance Structure (Parking B) will be available for parking Dec. 27-30. It will be closed and unavailable to parkers Dec. 24-26 and Dec. 31-Jan. 2. Patient and visitor parking at the Fletcher and Palmer structures will be closed Dec. 24-Jan 2.

The U-M fleet Fuel Stations will be in operation throughout the holidays. The Baxter Road service station is accessible 24 hours a day. The Kipke Drive service station can be accessed by calling DPS at (734) 763-1131.

Parking and Transportation garages will be closed from 12:30 a.m. Dec 24-7 a.m. Jan 3. For emergency repairs or accidents, contact DPS at (734) 763-1131. Parking and Transportation Maintenance will have reduced hours.

Bus/Shuttle Service
There will be no U-M bus or shuttle service on the official University holidays—Dec. 25-26 & Jan. 1-2. Reduced service will be provided Dec. 24 and Dec. 27-30. Service will return to its regular schedule Jan. 3. Visit www.transportation.umich.edu for more details.

A combined Fuller-Mitchell/Kellogg (Wall Street) shuttle service will operate 6:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Dec. 27-30. The 15-minute service will travel from the Fuller-Mitchell lot (M75) to Wall Street, the Cancer/Geriatrics Centers, University Hospital/Taubman and Mott (inbound). Outbound, the shuttle will travel from Mott, to University Hospital/Taubman, the Cancer/Geriatrics Centers and Fuller-Mitchell. The shuttle will not operate on the weekends.

The North Campus bus will operate 6:35 a.m.-6:40 p.m. Dec. 24 and 6:35 a.m.-12:10 a.m. Dec. 27-31.

Ann Arbor Transportation Authority (AATA)
The AATA will not operate fixed-route bus, A-Ride Paratransit or Senior Taxi service Dec. 25 or Jan. 1. Fixed-route bus service will operate on a reduced schedule Dec. 24 & 26-31. There will be no service on routes 1U and 12UL, the EMU Shuttle, Route 4 trips leaving the Blake Transit Center on the hour and half-hour, or the Ypsilanti Transit Center at 15 and 45 minutes past the hour. Route 36 service from Wolverine Tower will be reduced to service every 30 minutes at 15 and 45 minutes past the hour. Fixed-route service will resume Jan. 2 with the exception of Route 33, which will resume Jan. 9.

Night Ride taxi service will operate 11 p.m.-6 a.m. Monday through Friday and 7 p.m.-7:30 a.m. Saturday and Sunday throughout the holiday week. Night Ride will begin at 7 p.m. Dec. 24 & 31.
