Get energized at Health and Fitness Expo

The Department of Recreational Sports and MFit invite all faculty, staff and students to learn about the resources available to energize their life, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Feb. 9 in the main gymnasium of the Intramural Sports Building (IMSB).

Participants will have access to health and wellness professionals, and to free fitness tests, blood pressure screenings, body mass index assessments, information tables, interactive booths and more.

Register now for Women of Color Task Force Conference March 3

Pre-registration for the Women of Color Task Force 24th Annual Career Conference is happening now through Feb. 22.

The conference is from 7 a.m.-5 p.m. March 3 at the Michigan League, with professional, financial and personal development workshops, a networking luncheon and an exhibit area featuring the U-M Credit Union, Borders Express, Out of Africa Clothing and Warm Spirit.

The keynote speaker is Pete Thomas, weight loss phenomenon from the NBC-TV reality show, "The Biggest Loser."

Early registration for U-M staff, faculty and students is $55 for the conference and $75 for the conference and lunch. Cost for non-U-M participants is $75 for the conference and $95 for the conference and lunch.

The registration cost the day of the conference for staff, faculty and students is $65 for the conference only, and $85 for the conference only for non-U-M participants. For more information, call (734) 998-7080, or go to www.cew.umich.edu.

Women's Health and Fitness Day covers range of issues

From sexuality to infertility, financial planning and learning to taking care of an elderly parent, a woman's biology and her sociocultural, economic and physical environments are factors that affect both the duration and quality of her life.

The Medical School will offer the public a unique opportunity to learn about these factors affecting women of all ages and many more during the second Women's Health and Fitness Day Feb. 11 in the Michigan League Ballroom.

The event will begin with registration and breakfast at 8:30 a.m., followed by morning and afternoon workshops presented by

U-M Health System experts. Participants may choose from 30 workshops to attend; two in the morning and two in the afternoon.
