Event to explore religious diversity in a public university

The Center for Research on Learning and Teaching (CRLT) with support from a Ford Foundation grant will offer the first event in a series on "Religious Diversity in the Public Research University." A workshop titled "Student Religion, Faith, and Spirituality in the Classroom and Beyond: How Do Instructors Respond?" will be held 4-6 p.m. Feb. 7 in the CRLT Seminar Room, 1013 Palmer Commons. Alliance aims to increase minorities in four disciplines

More than 2,000 Detroit Public School students each year participate in BioKIDS, a
U-M School of Education and Museum of Zoology program that uses technology and hands-on learning methods to help middle school students ask questions the way scientists do. The five-year program, now beginning its final year, has demonstrated favorable results for Detroit students and contributed to an average gain in science abilities of a full grade level on state standardized tests.
