Awards

Law School affiliated overseas faculty member Christine Chinkin jointly was awarded the American Society of International Law 2006 Goler T. Butcher Medal. The award, which she shared with Professor Hilary Charlesworth of the Australian National University, is given in recognition of outstanding contributions to the development or effective realization of international human rights law.

Cherie Holodnick, a clinical nurse at the Employee Health Service, and the Japanese Family Health Program were honored at the first U-M Health System Cultural Competency Exchange. Holodnick received the individual award for her initiative, "Bridging the Barriers to Meet Vaccine Needs of Foreign Born." The group award went to the Japanese Family Health Program, which was established in 1994 to support the principles of family medicine while providing comprehensive culturally and linguistically competent health care to the Japanese community of Southeastern Michigan.
