Outstanding staff nominations sought

The Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR) invites nominations of outstanding staff members for two awards to be given in the spring: the Distinguished Research Administrator Award and the OVPR Exceptional Service Award. UMHHC top programs of 2005 announced

U-M Hospitals and Health Centers has announced the winners of its 2005 Program of the Year awards. The Home Perinatal Services Program, a collaborative effort between Michigan Visiting Nurses and the Department of Obstetrics and Gynocology, was named the Clinical Services Program of the Year, and Infection Control & Epidemiology was named the Support Services Program of the Year. Serving more than 3,500 families per year, the Home Perinatal Services Program facilitates the early transition of care for childbearing women and their newborns to the comfort of home while enhancing the quality of care patients receive. Infection Control & Epidemiology (IC&E) is the division of the Office of Clinical Affairs responsible for reducing the risk of infection in patients, visitors, personnel and others.

Ford Library awards research grants

The Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library on North Campus has awarded research grants to eight scholars in support of their travel to use library collections. The Gerald R. Ford Foundation in the spring and fall awards travel grants of up to $2,000 to support research in library collections. They fall recipients and their research projects are: Cheng Guan Ang, Nanyang, Technological University, Singapore, The Cold War International History of Southeast Asia; Eduardo Canedo, Columbia University, The Movement to Deregulate the American Economy; Jeffrey Crouch, The Catholic University of America, The Presidential Pardon Power; Prudence Flowers, University of Melbourne, Australia, Feminism and the Rise of the Christian Right; Silvia Pietrantonio, University of Bologna, Italy, The European Quest for a Common Middle East Policy; Nguyen Quoc Viet, University of Kassel, Germany, Separation of Powers; Neil Young, Columbia University, Mormons, Baptists, Catholics and the Rise of 'Pro-Family' Politics; and Barbara Zanchetta, University of Florence, Italy, From Détente to the Second Cold War.
