Dr. Mark Orringer, the John Alexander Distinguished Professor of Surgery and head of the Section of Thoracic Surgery, was inducted May 24 into the Johns Hopkins University Society of Scholars in Baltimore, Maryland for his contributions to the field of thoracic surgery, particularly the treatment of surgical diseases of the esophagus, and for his contributions to medical student and resident education.
Dr. Carmen R. Green, associate professor of anesthesiology at the Medical School and director of pain research and management at the U-M Health System, is one of seven recipients selected for the prestigious Robert Wood Johnson Health Policy Fellowship for 2006-07. Green has a long-standing interest in health policy and health disparities, particularly in the area of disparities in pain assessment and management among minorities, women and elderly people.
