Summer festival announces Top of the Park schedule
Celebrating its 23rd season, the Ann Arbor Summer Festival will present this year’s Top of the Park activities June 16-July 9. They include 50 bands, 16 movies and three Global Parties at one new location, Ingalls Mall at Washington Street between Fletcher and Thayer streets.
Music begins at 7 p.m. nightly and films at 10 p.m. at the mall in front of the Horace H. Rackham School of Graduate Studies, on Washington Street, near the Burton Memorial Tower. The annual 3-week event is relocating from its longtime home at the Fletcher Street Parking Structure due to a two-year rehabilitation project to that venue. For 24 consecutive nights, Top of the Park features free concerts, free movies, food by local restaurants, a beer garden and a place for family and friends to meet.
New festival features include exuberant, family-friendly Global Parties, which begin 90 minutes before select indoor performances. They featuure free outdoor performances, demonstrations, colorful parades, streeet dancing, strolling musicians and hands-on activities.
Other new features include carillon concerts, Family Day June 18 and Teen Night June 19. Top of the Park, which offers a variety of food specialties, attracts more than 60,000 people each year. For more information go to www.annarborsummerfestival.org.
