Photo: Prison Creative Arts Project at Duderstadt Center Gallery March 14-29

Nearly 400 pieces of art collected by the U-M Prison Creative Arts Project (PCAP), including "Layla" by Willie Terrell will be on display March 14-29 at the Duderstadt Center Gallery on North Campus. An opening reception from 5:30-8 p.m. March 14 in the gallery will honor PCAP founder Buzz Alexander, Thurnau Professor of English, and will feature speakers including artists from past exhibitions, now home from prison, and Herschell Turner, an art instructor at the Ionia Maximum Correctional Facility. The exhibit, attended by more than 4,000 people last year, seeks to promote community between prisoners and the public. The gallery is open 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and noon-6 p.m. Sundays and Mondays. Admission is free. (Photo courtesy Prison Creative Arts Project)
