Initiative seeks to increase research on global health concerns

The University will launch a new project Nov. 29 aimed at preparing the next generation of health scientists and professionals to address critical research needs in global health.

Funded by the Fogarty International Center of the National Institutes of Health, the Michigan Global Health Research and Training Initiative will engage increasing numbers of undergraduate and graduate students in multidisciplinary global health research; encourage innovative research collaborations across the University; and support research and training partnerships with institutions in low-and middle-income countries. Graham Environmental Sustainability Institute launched by University

The Graham Environmental Sustainability Institute is being launched with a $5.25 million expendable gift from the Graham Foundation, a philanthropic organization established by Donald Graham and his wife Ingrid. The Office of the Provost will provide an additional $5.25 million to augment the University's extensive ongoing work in the field and bring the effort to a new level. More>


19th MLK Symposium resonates with current event connections

The 19th Annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Symposium will have a current events feel as its theme, "A time to break silence," will recall both King's opposition to what he called an unjust foreign war, and his fight against poverty—a lingering problem as revealed in the media glare following Hurricane Katrina.
