Students from the Department of Atmospheric, Oceanic, and Space Sciences (AOSS) blow bubbles in Michigan Stadium while conducting wind experiments as part of Storm the Stadium. Here, Chris Shoemaker, a junior biology pre-med major, sends a stream of bubbles skyward during the Sept. 24 event. Perry Samson, associate chair and professor in AOSS who teaches a popular extreme weather course, organized the event for his students to measure temperature, wind flow and dispersion inside the stadium. The data from the experiments will be offered to the football coaching staff, ABC-TV, ESPN and other media to use for the season and also will be utilized for AOSS class activities during the semester.
