Photos: Move-in at Mosher-Jordan, President Coleman at New Student Convocation

The last students to live in Mosher-Jordan Residence Hall for a few years were busy moving in Sept. 1 (above, photo by Lin Jones, U-M Photo Services). Renovations to the historic Hill area hall are scheduled to begin at the end of the academic year. After dropping off their belongings, students made their way to Crisler Arena for New Student Convocation later that evening. Right: President Mary Sue Coleman tells students and parents to make the most of their time at the University.

"[So] the time has come for you to discover the people of Michigan. Explore this community as you would the great places of the world," she told students. "Walk the campus and take in the opinions and perspectives, the arguments and the causes. Wander the libraries and museums, and discover the knowledge that surrounds you. Uncover the difference that Michigan will make in your life, and find how you can make a difference in the life of Michigan."

The next day at New Graduate Student Orientation in Rackham Auditorium, Coleman said: "I encourage you to step outside your department and your discipline. Take your mind to new places and discover the Michigan Difference. It will make your graduate experience all the more rewarding, and all the more memorable." (Photo below by Scott Galvin)
