Photo: Learning about labor disputes

A delegation from China's Ministry of Labour and Social Security visited the University Aug. 15 as part of the Institute of Labor and Industrial Relations' (ILIR) involvement in the "U.S.-China Labor Law Cooperation Project." The U.S. Department of Labor initiative provides Chinese academic and government leaders the opportunity to meet with U.S. experts and address new approaches to preventing and resolving labor disputes. Jinyun Liu, co-director of the Center for China Employment and Labor Relations at ILIR, organized the visit. Daohuai Wu, head of the Chinese delegation, attended the event. Other participanrs included, from left, Jo Avery, human resources director at the Motor City Casino Company in Detroit; Jingling Wu and Rui Wang from the China Ministry of Labour and Social Security; and Jim Statham and Mike Nowakowski from the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service Detroit office.
