Dr. John F. Greden, chair of the Department of Psychiatry, received the University of Minnesota Medical Foundation's 2005 Distinguished Alumni Award for his medical career achievements and outstanding service to the community. Greden also serves as executive director of the Depression Center and as a research professor for the Mental Health Research Institute.

Mary Lou Gillard and Mary Joan Kocan have been recognized by Sigma Theta Tau, U-M's honorary nursing society, with the Excellence in Nursing Practice Award. Gillard is a clinical nurse specialist in the Diabetes Education Program at the U-M Health System. Kocan is a clinical nurse specialist in neurology and neurosurgery.

Betsy Foxman, professor of epidemiology in the School of Public Health, has won the 2005 the Wade Hampton Frost Lectureship Award from the Epidemiology Section of the American Public Health Association.
