News BriefsSlovak Republic travel awards availableThe Center for Russian and East European Studies (CREES) invites applications for the Ronald and Eileen Weiser Professional Development Award Program, which supports 2-3 week travel awards to the Slovak Republic. Applicants are invited to propose projects in any field of research or teaching with a faculty partner at a Slovak institution of higher education. Selection will follow a competitive review of proposals; up to six awards will be granted in 2006. Applications must be submitted by Oct. 14. M-CARE retains excellent accreditation M-CARE, the nonprofit health plan owned by U-M, has earned an excellent accreditation from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) for its commercial and Medicaid HMOs for the sixth consecutive year. Only plans that demonstrate levels of service and clinical quality that meet or exceed NCQA's requirements for consumer protection and quality improvement receive the excellent designation, the highest rating the committee offers. Plans earning excellent accreditation level also must achieve HEDISU+00C2U+00AE (Health Plan Employer Data and Information Set) results that are in the highest range of national or regional performance. Regents to meet Sept. 15 The Board of Regents will hold its monthly meeting at 2:30 p.m. Sept. 15 in the Regents Room of the Fleming Administration Building.
