Progressive Irish dance in America is widely thought to have begun with Chicago's Trinity Irish Dance Company. Trinity dancers range in age from 18-28, and their years of training are evident in every spin, leap, and click. Artistic director Mark Howard has taken the group outside of the framework of ethnicity, expanding the company's range and repertoire in new directions, while always performing to live music. The group performs at 8 p.m. April 20-21 at the Power Center for the Performing Arts. Sponsored by the University Musical Society, Toyota Technical Center and Pfizer, 764-2538.
