Terry Gallagher, director of university relations at U-M-Dearborn, has been elected to serve a one-year term as a trustee of Leadership Detroit, a yearlong regional community leadership program founded in 1979 and sponsored by the Detroit Regional Chamber. Each class elects one of its members to serve as a trustee the following year. Gallagher was a member of the class for 2006-07. |

Nancy Ambrose Gallagher, a doctoral student at the School of Nursing, recently received a Hartford Predoctoral Scholarship from the Hartford Foundation. Her mentor for the scholarship is Dr. Kimberlee Gretebeck, assistant professor at the school. |
Jeffrey Lagarias, professor of mathematics, LSA, was one of eight people chosen nationwide by the Mathematical Association of America to receive the Lester R. Ford Award Aug. 4 at the Summer MathFest in San Jose, Calif. Established in 1964, the awards, which include a citation and cash prize, are presented for articles of expository excellence published in the American Mathematical Monthly. Lagarias' article was "Wild and Wooley Numbers," vol. 113, No. 2, 2006. |
