Beyond Beat and Rhymes: An Evening with Byron Hurt, is from 7-9 p.m. Dec. 6 in East Hall, Room 1324. The event opens with Hurt hosting a showing of his film "Beyond Beats and Rhymes: A Hip-Hop Head Weighs in on Manhood in Rap Music." The documentary was a 2006 Sundance Film Festival selection also shown on the Public Broadcasting System. It examines representations of manhood, sexism and homophobia in hip-hop culture and features several well-known hip-hop artists.
